Prenatal

Yantra Yoga

Role para Baixo

Prenatal Yantra Yoga has evolved out of a centuries-old yoga practice from Tibet that was first introduced to the West nearly fifty years ago by Dzogchen master Chögyal Namkhai Norbu.

This method was specially adapted to the needs and condition of women during pregnancy. Its gentleness and rhythm are highly beneficial for both mother and child. Through its sequence you will learn 26 movements that start with the 9 purification breathings, all 5 tsijong, 6 of the 8 movements, tsadul including the pranayama and 5 movements, 10 yantras, rhythmic breathing and they end with the final changing of air into a very comfortable relaxation in nalwab using cushions under knees, lower back and head, to make a soft nest for the mothers.

Much care was taken into the structure of the movements themselves, how to best adapt them for pregnancy and also with the aid of cushions or blocks, and great attention was given to the lower back, the large belly and the possibility of less stamina and more tiredness in the mothers to be. Another point that was considered was the timing and the awareness into the applications of each movement. For this result, we perform all with much slower and softer breathing and movements, mainly if compared to the traditional Yantra Yoga. Therefore these series are perfect to give the experience of gentle harmony in the movement. Of course, the breathing is still the focus and also the correspondence between breath and movement, as it is always stressed in the teaching and practice of Yantra Yoga.

This wonderful method was created by international Yantra Yoga instructor Laura Evangelisti together with Nataly Nietzsche Gaetano. They presented the method to the precious Teacher Namkhai Norbu, who corrected important points, made crucial recommendations, and finally gave permission to teach it. The method is based on the traditional Yantra Yoga of Vairochana and contains selected exercises as we mentioned before; all in the adapted form to provide a great experience for the pregnant women. All of that was created with the aim to allow women to practice it during different stages of pregnancy without the need for an interruption and for being able to offer as much safety and comfort as possible for both: themselves and for their unborn child. As we know the main goal of Yantra Yoga is a relaxation of body, energy, and mind in its real condition while on the relative level it’s beneficial for physical and psychological health. In this way, it can be perfect preparation for the childbirth process. That is why Yantra Yoga for pregnant women can be useful not only for advanced practitioners but also for beginners.

An important criterion for a successful pregnancy and childbirth is the ability to relax. And it is well known that Yantra Yoga is a wonderful way to train into relaxation. For that reason, all the exercises of Yantra Yoga for pregnant women are modified so that the structure and principle of application remain unchanged, as well as the quality of unification of the movement and the breathing.

All new moms are invited to see the tremendous and unique benefit that Yantra Yoga has to offer for pregnant women and the unborn babies.  The movements are very helpful to open the hip and pelvis for childbirth, to strengthen of the lower back and spine, to improve breathing that is so essential and beneficial for both mother and child. Once again the precious and special value of Yantra Yoga has been revealed. We hope that this system becomes widely diffused for the benefit of all mamas and babies everywhere!!!
